Surround Yourself With Positive People
It really is true. The people you surround yourself with have a HUGE impact on how you feel mentally, emotionally and physically. If you’re constantly hanging around people who degrade you, diminish your accomplishments and don’t lift you up… how do you think your “energy bank” feels at the end of an outing or get together? Drained, right? 100%. No one should have the power to take away your happiness or bring you down to a negative state. This is why being around inspiring, like-minded people gives you an energy boost and not a drained feeling at the end of the day.
Give Back When/How You Can
Have you ever felt negativity hit and thought “ugh, my life sucks and no one has it worse than I do right now”? Chances are that’s not the case and you actually have a lot of things to be thankful for but in the moment, that can seem impossible. Going out and giving back to your community can give you a first person viewpoint of just how bad some people have it. Not to say that your struggles are not important or valid, but if you have food in your belly and a roof over your head you’re doing better than a good portion of your community whether you realize it or not.
Do That One Thing That Always Bring You Pure Bliss
You know what “thing” I’m talking about. The one thing that EVERY SINGLE TIME you do it you feel a sense of pure bliss. This is different for everyone so it could be: playing with your kids, driving to the beach, reading your favorite book or watching a great class movie. Talk It Out With Your Bestie
This one for me is a personal favorite! My best friend and I have been best friends for 18 years and there is nothing that I won’t tell her. We know that when the times are bad, we always have each other. Not to mention, she’s easily one of the only people who can take my negativity and turn it into a positive situation. Even if your best friend is your husband or mom or dog… talk it out. Clearing your mind of revolving thoughts it’s a sure-fire way to get you in a happy mood again!
Practice Your Spirituality
Maybe this is first on your list or maybe it’s last but practicing whatever spiritual practice you follow can help ground you and rejuvenate your soul. Everyone’s spiritual journey is different and personal, and you may not even have a spiritual practice yet, but getting in touch with your higher power can be an incredible way to bring yourself back to square one with a fresh, positive start.
We all have bad days, weeks and even months but what we can not do is allow ourselves to stay stagnant and unpack our bags there. No one is guaranteed a perfect life but even when negativity strikes… you have the power to lift yourself from the rubble and start new. Live well.
