Vacation can be as stressful as it is exciting. There’s packing, cleaning the house, arranging dog sitters and taking time off of work. Especially if you have a house with children, things can get out of hand quickly. This leads to essential items being left behind and worry setting in when you’re having a good time. Check out this list below to make sure you don’t leave anything behind!
Insurance Cards
Picture it. You’re in a foreign country on vacation and you’re zip lining through the treetops. You’re coming to the end and getting ready to land when you slam into the land zone with your leg, fracturing your foot. Now you’re on the way to the hospital and footing the bill because you forgot your insurance card! You don’t want to be in this position so I’d go grab those insurance cards and tuck them somewhere safe in your carry on. Luggage gets lost frequently so never put valuable or essential items in your luggage!
Cash
This may seem silly when we are all so use to carrying our credit or debit cards around but cash is essential! When traveling in some countries certain places (like food markets) only accept cash. Not to mention technology is not always a 100% reliable commodity. Having cash is always a good idea when traveling but limit the amount you carry especially in high crime countries or states.
Small First Aid Kit
Another over looked item when packing is first aid supplies or a small first aid kit. Traveling with kids is already scary because you’re in an unknown area with strangers; having a hurt kid makes it even more difficult to keep an eye on your surroundings. Make a small first aid kit with “quick fix” items like band aids and ointment!
Prescription Medicine
Do you take medicines regularly to up keep your health? This is one of the most common items forgotten items on vacation even though it could literally be saving your life! The night before make sure to toss all your medications in your carry on for easy access.
Cell Phone Charger
I’m sure you’re thinking “well even if I forget a phone charger, I can just buy one!”. While this is true a quality phone charger could run you $20-$30 (and possibly more) depending on where you’re vacationing! I recommend this portable solar charging bank so no matter where you are, you always have a fully charged battery.
