Cold and flu symptoms can seem unmanageable.
Not to mention, as working adults with families we need to stay on our “A Game”.
Check out our 3 biggest tips for kicking cold symptoms before they truly get started!

Onion Tea
Onion tea has been a long standing aid in battling cold and flu symptoms. While it might seem silly, boiling two quartered onions in 4 cups of water can be super beneficial to your health in general! Onions not only help symptoms subside, they also help regulate cholesterol levels and are good for your digestive system. Boil the two quartered onions for one hour, drain, put in your favorite mug and use honey to mask the taste! Take a look at all the benefits that onions have here:

Onion Juice for Ear Pain
We ALL hate that incredible pressure we sometimes get in our ears when we get a head cold. You hear everything as though you’re underwater and the pain can seem unbearable! Try this quick & easy tip to help relieve pressure quickly – all you need is a slice of onion, dropper and a microwave safe bowl.
Slice off a piece of an onion, microwave it for 30 seconds, let the onion cool then put the onion juice in a small container. Lay on your side and drop a few drops of the onion juice in your ear then allow it to sit for ten mins. Drain your ear and within minutes you should start to feel relief. For best results, do not use a cotton swab to remove the remainder of the onion juice from your ear!
Run A Humidifier 24/7
This may seem like a no-brainer but many people have forgotten the power of a simple humidifier! Blowing your nose over and over again completely drys out your nasal passages which can cause pain, chapped nose and redness. Keeping your nasal passages moist can alleviate all these extra issues and make your cold symptoms more bare-able. I personally have mine running on high all day long in the room I know that I’ll be in most often during the day! If this room is not your bedroom, make sure to transfer the humidifier into your bedroom before you head to bed. Another side tip: sleep elevated! This can also help avoid sleep disruptions from coughing.

Although there are so many tips and tricks for dealing with cold and flu symptoms, these are my preferred go-to methods to battling sickness! Things like allergies, tolerance and availability can make it difficult for some individuals to use western medicine. Not to mention, some people prefer not to use it unless they absolutely have to! This is why I find it beneficial to have alternative methods to help out with any other regimen a doctor recommends.
