We all know that dreaded feeling. The weather starts to get colder, the sky seems more bleak, and you get down in the dumps. Most people describe this as “the winter blues” and the way you feel can sometimes affect your everyday life. Check out our top 3 ways that you can kick the winter blues now!
Winter Blues Kicker #1: Get Active!
This may seem incredibly hard to do when you’re already feeling down but getting your body moving and grooving is our top recommendation for getting rid of that “blah” feeling. Signing up for the gym may seem a bit cliche when it’s right around the holidays but I can guarantee moving your body will help get your physical and mental dullness headed in the right direction. Don’t have the money to sign up for the gym? Doing simple exercises at home or taking long walks with your family counts too!
Winter Blues Kicker #2: Change Your Diet!
Going hand in hand with our first suggestion while you’re taking the opportunity to get your body moving, changing your diet and filling yourself up with healthy foods can literally change not only how you look but how you feel. You don’t have to get rd of all those comfort foods you love but finding healthier options can lift your spirit and still provide that cozy fall feeling you love! Below I’ve linked a great resource for healthy fall time recipes that you could try today:

Winter Blues Kicker #3: Participate In All The Fall Activites!
I’m sure no matter what town you live in or what state you’re in, fall activities are plentiful during this time of the year. Some events to look for are: Fall Fests, Halloween parades, kid friendly fall activities, pumpkin patches and fall themed dances/nights out. If the activities in your area cost money but you’re low on cash right now… try finding free pumpkins to do a family pumpkin carving night and check out your local library to see what they’re offering for your kids!
You could also hold a fun Halloween party at your house and come up with exciting prizes for the best costumes. The options are endless and you’ll be able to lift your spirits while also spending time with your family and getting out of the house, even if the weathers a bit chilly!
If you’re going to be gone all day long with the kiddos at a fun activity, make sure to grab some of our lunch totes for yourself AND the kids. They come in a variety of patterns and are leak proof! Check out the kids lunch totes here:
We hope that this will help you in some small way and will give you the push to get through these winter blues. Although we didn’t mention these in our top three, a few additional ways to kick the winter blues are: to take a short vacation to somewhere warm if you can, having a hot chocolate and movie night with your family, and take yourself on a small shopping spree for spring/summer clothes (they’ll be on sale right now!).
