Have you ever wanted to get more involved within your community but don’t know how?
Check out our top 10 ways to get involved in your local community now!
Community Impact #1: Volunteer At A Soup Kitchen
Have you ever wondered where your next meal was going to come from? A lot of us haven’t but so many of us could be in this gut wrenching position quicker then we think. By volunteering at a soup kitchen you’re directly working the people in your community and you can know, for certain, that their next meal is leaving your hands and going directly into their bellies. There are many positions you can take on at a soup kitchen as well including meal prep, distribution, and clean up! Do a quick google search for your area to see where your closest soup kitchen is; I’m sure it’s a lot closer than you think.
Community Impact #2: Donate Old Clothes To A Shelter
If you’re anything like most people, you often donate to Good Will or some place like Good Will when you’re looking to get rid of your clothes but what if I told you that donating to a local shelter is a much better option? It’s true! The clothes you donate go directly to the people in the shelter and are often the only clothes that they will receive. Putting a new coat on a homeless individual in the winter could be life changing for them!
Community Impact #3: Support Local Farmers
This one might not be something you’ve ever thought about but putting your money back into your community is one of the best ways to positively impact it! The cost of farming is so expensive and it’s something we take for granted because we only see our produce on store shelves. Stop by your local farmers markets and try to do the majority of your shopping locally. The farmers will be thankful!
Community Impact #4: Participate In Habitat For Humanity
Currently you’re more than likely sitting under a roof all cozy in your own home. For other people, this is only a dream! Habitat for Humanity helps families fix up or completely rebuild their homes and you could be a part of this. Not to mention, there are also many other incredible ways to get involved on their site. Check it out below!
Community Impact #5: Clean Up Trash
How rewarding would it be to know that because of your efforts a certain part of your community was trash free? I know I’d be proud! This could be an individual project or you could orchestrate a group to tag along with you. All you’ll need is gloves, some trash bags and good walking shoes and in a few hours you’ll be able to feel a sense of pride knowing you helped clean up your community. Check out our lunch totes below so all your drinks and snacks stay cold all day long!
Community Impact #6: Offer A Free Class
Do you have something you could talk about for hours? Are you an expert on a topic that you know is in high demand? Why not offer a free class! Call your local high schools and colleges to see if they have any upcoming seminars or workshops and donate your time and experience. You never know who might gain some insight on something that could change their life forever! Follow back up with the schools to see how your insight helped and ask for information on the next available opportunity.
Community Impact #7: Donate Money To Your Local Zoo
If you live in a small town like me you may have a local zoo that runs strictly off donations like I do! Not only are there opportunities to donate financially but a lot of time they’re also looking for volunteers on a consistent basis to assist with the zoo’s daily needs.
